the car has the original alternator in it, the brackets for the new alternator (the Ford one) are uneven and wont fit the belts on them, i was wondering if i can take the brackets from the old alternator and replace them on the for so the belts will fit answer quickly thanks!

The charging warning light should automatically reset if the battery is disconnected. Check the battery cables and ensure they are properly connected. Also check the alternator connections. If the light is still on there may be a problem with the new alternator.
