Reset check engine light infiniti g20?

We had the Check Engine light come on my wife's 2001 G20t at about 30-35,000 miles (currently have 57K). The conventional wisdom is that it's a Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) failure and that part can run as $400 retail at the dealer. If it truly is that problem, there is supposed to be a noticeable reduction in performance. She did not experience that - it runs fast and peppy as always. In our case, the short-term fix was can you guess?) black electrical tape on over the lit area on the dash panel! A few months ago the light went off, no change in performance, and we figured it could have been a bad electrical connection that worked itself out.

This is not to say that you should ignore thecheck engine lightr. But diagnosis at a dealer or other shop is at least $100 (all they do is plug in a computer and read the code - a real money maker.) Ususlaly you will see other problems, usually other dash lights go on, too; and watch the temperature guage. Again, we had none of these problems and I guess we lucked out.

We had a similar dash light warning for the windshield washer level sensor. the dash light went on, but the reservoir was full. We have always maintained this car very well. There is a small sensor switch near the bottom on the tank asnd I guess it would be a cheap part and expensive labor. butonce again the lgiht wnet off as mysteriously as it went on, we maintain the water level, and all is well. Sometimes these are just electrical glitches that work themselves out. Black electrical tape is much cheaper!
