It is more likely that we derived the age of the universe from its present size. The age depends upon the value of the Hubble Constant, which probably isn't really a constant in the strictest sense.

As for the area of the universe, regarding it as a sphere is probably a mistake. The topology of the universe is different from that of the 3 dimensional objects with which we are familiar. ---- The answer is No. According to Astrophysicist David Palmer, we cannot currently determine the actual size of the Universe; but only attempt to determine the size of the "known" Universe which is that part of the Universe that we can see. It's analogous to standing in a stationary position in the middle of a dessert. We will be able to view sand all around us; but will have no idea how much more sand may lie beyond that which we can see.

About many years ago do scientists think the universe first started to form?

It is believed that the universe first formed approximately 13.7 billion years ago.

Did the Milky Way explode fourteen billion years ago?

No. The milky way did not exist at all, fourteen billion years ago. According to the Big Bang theory, the first galaxies started forming at least a million years after the universe had started to expand.

Do scientists know what started the big bang?

Not at the present time, just like scientists haven't yet figured out why there is lightning in our skies. The idea that our Universe has been expanding at a (more or less) steady rate for the last 13.7 billion years, is just as proven as the idea that our Earth goes around our Sun. However, as Alan Guth said so well: "The Big Bang theory says nothing about what banged, why it banged, or what happened before it banged."

How can the big bang still be visible?

Light actually takes time to move, so light that was 13.7 billion light years away would just recently be visible, and we may be able to see the remnants of the big bang. many scientists predict that because they have predicted the universe is expanding and if you look back it makes sense that it all started at 1 point then.

What is the observable universe?

The observable Universe is the part of the Universe we can see from Earth because the light from all the objects in it has had enough time to reach us. Light from outside the observable Universe has yet to reach Earth. The reason we can only see part of the Universe is because of the limited speed of light, and the expansion of the Universe, which is faster than that speed. According to Einstein, nothing in the Universe can move faster than light, but nothing stops the expansion of space from moving faster than light. This results in a large part of the Universe being completely invisible to us.

When do scientists think that life started?

Scientists currently think that life got started between 3.8 and 3.5 billion years ago, probably less than a billion year after the formation of the Earth. It is certain that life existed by 2.7 billion years ago.

How old was the universe when young galaxies started to form?

about 1 billion years old

When do you think the universe was formed?

It is currently believed that the Universe started something like 14 billion years ago, with the Big Bang.

What did most scientists think about how the universe began?

The generally accepted model is called the "Big Bang". It means that all the matter and energy of the Universe was in a tiny space, some 13.8 billion years ago or so, at a tremendously high temperature and density. From there, it started to expand; currently, the Universe continues expanding, and will probably continue to expand forever.

Where do scientists think life began?

God created all the universe and all life that exist! He made allThis is one belief that is shared among all Christians. However, some scientists believe that life started 4.5 billion years ago in Africa. It then evolved and spread out across the world.

How long after the Big Bang started did the sun evolve?

The Sun is about the same age as the Earth, ca. 4.6 billion years. The universe's age is estimated at 13.7 billion years. That means that the universe had existed about 9.1 billion years before the Sun began shining.
