Why did dense substances sinking into Earth's core heat Earth's interior?

Because of the friction created between rising and falling material.

How is motion affected by friction and how does the law of conservation apply to this?

Friction is a general term applied to the force on something that is applied to it by something that it is moving on or through. If a car is moving along the highway, there is friction between the road and the tires. There is also friction in the wheel bearings. (Lubrication helps limit this.) The friction, the forces between the two things that are moving, appears as heat energy. And by the law of conservation of energy, if something is moving across something else, there will be a bit of energy lost due to friction, but it will have to be conserved - it will have to appear somewhere else because it can't just "disappear" without being accounted for. Friction energy is conserved (law of conservation of energy) and heat results. If someone is doing a project that involves using an abrasive on a material, someone might be sanding wood or metal (or another material). The sandpaper and the material being sanded will get warm as sanding continues. The friction created between the abrasive and the material appears as heat. The energy is conserved; it cannot be lost nor can it simply disappear. Links follow.

Why do objects heat up if they are moving faster?

Because the friction of molicules rubbing other molicules.

Why was early Earth hit with so many meteors than the current earth?

When the earth was young, the atmosphere was thinner. A thin atmosphere burns through less material as an asteroid is falling. More Meteorites impact because there is less friction caused, and thus less heat. Some lighter substances actually can blow up when entering the atmosphere because of the heat and friction.

Can friction happen with oil?

No because oil is slipery

Why do properly cut gems glow brightly?

Because they're from pure material

What types of materials can cause friction?

Any type of material has friction because everything has microscopic hills and valleys; some materials have more friction because the materials hills and valleys are larger than other materials.

Why do materials have different coefficient of friction?

Different materials have different coefficients of friction because the materials have different microscopic bumps and valleys which cause the friction to begin with. Coefficients of friction are constant for each material.

What are examples of low friction materials?

Some examples of relatively high friction surfaces are: sand paper, grass, and asphalt. In general, the rougher the surface, the more friction it has.

Why are health care costs spiraling up in the US?

because they're not canada

Why is titanium suitable as airframe material for supersonic aircraft?

Titanium is light strong and will not burn-down because of the over heating that is caused because of friction.

Why does Rigel star shine as brightly as Betelgeuse star?

It shines as brightly because of the distance it has from earth and it has to do with how old the star is.

How does an eraser erase?

an eraser erases by the material it is made of and rubber is one of those materials, it mostly makes lead "dissapear" from the paper because of friction Also, if you rub someone's face with an eraser it will make their face disappear from their head because of friction!(not)

Are newts brightly coloured?

Newts are brightly coloured because they eat multi-colored animals which amazingly makes them super-natural!!!!

What will be the diamond shines very brightly because of?

Internal reflection.

Does clay have more friction than sandpaper?

Yes, clay does have more friction than sandpaper. This is because, clay is a much heavier object/material then sandpaper, therefore if you were to drag a lump of clay on the floor and measured the friction, it would be higher then the amount of friction caused by sandpaper. If the amount of force needed to pull the clay is larger then the amount of force needed to pull the sandpaper, that means that there is a much larger amount of friction present, because the more friction there is present, the harder you would need to pull. Hope this helps.
