To do so is part of the US Constitution, by amendment to the said constitution. The owning of guns is also ingrained in US culture. This said, this culture and the amendment were established before the development of the modern military assault rifle and one must wonder if the founding father may have limited the right to purchase and carry these weapons freely had they foreseen what was to come.
One must also remember that there is a huge industry making money out of selling these weapons to US citizens and these industries are spending vast amounts of money ensuring that paid politicians obfuscate any real debate or change.
Yes, Americans have full rights to own and bear arms, its engraved in the U.S. Constitition.
@ 1/2 of the population does not own a firearm.
Your question is rather vague. If you mean what should a physician do if someone OWNS a gun- I would ask why they should do anything. Owning a gun is not an illness, and is a right guaranteed to Americans. About 1/3rd of he households in the US own at least one gun- and I know several doctors that own guns.
In 2007 40% said yes
No. They were slaves

Gives every citizen the right to own guns.
Gives every citizen the right to own guns.
The right to keep and own guns. And "it shall not be infringed."
This amendment gives people the right to keep and bear arms (weapons, guns specifically.)
Americans can own guns per the 2nd amendment on the Bill of Rights.Though there are several versions and interpretations of the text, it basically says that it is "the right of the People to keep and bear arms and shall not be infringed."It was made an amendment because the common people need a form of self-defense when a well regulated militia (the police) cannot always be everywhere at once and at every second of the day.
