Not all Christians believe in miracles. Roman Catholics believe in miracles as Lourdes is where many go on pilgrimage - many people are said to have been cured miraculously after going there on pilgrimage because the Virgin Mary was told to have been seen there.

Answer:

Christians belief many different things about miracles. Personally, I believe that Jesus did many miracles in his lifetime. That was over 2000 years ago. Now God still does miracles, sometimes as petitioned by his followers in prayer, and sometimes of his own accord. I have seen miracles take place by the grace of God.

Miracles are miraculous things done by the power of Jesus, and Jesus alone. a human is not ultimately performing the miracle, but Jesus is using that person to show His power THROUGH them.

Miracles can happen anywhere anytime, because Jesus Christ has the power to do anything.

One converted Christian, CS Lewis, described miracles as follows:

Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see.

Because they need to believe!

Well, as I Christian, I would respectfully disagree with that. Christianity presupposes a God outside the universe who can and does cause events to occur in our world. Given that, then we are open to the claim that miracles have occurred, and in the Scriptures (and elsewhere) we do find written evidence for them. (Spontaneous remission of cancer can be considered a miracle, for example, and it does occur).

No. Across the history of the early Church and in the Middle Ages, there was an increasing expectation of more spectacular and even bizarre miracles.

In the early years, dramatic and fanciful miracles were attributed to saints. The Catholic Church has moderated its teachings on miracles somewhat, but still maintains that miracles happen on a regular basis. The expectation of the miraculous fell away sharply among the Protestant Churches, which generally no longer see miracles.

Against the early Protestand movement, the Catholic Church insisted that the possession of miraculous gifts proved that Catholicism was the authentic Church. Even today, Church protocol still requires that two miracles be attested before a person can be canonised as a saint.

Christians believe in miracles, because we believe in Christ, and in The Bible. The bible tells of the miracles that Christ performed in the name of God, and we believe that He continues to do so.

A miracle is something that we can not explain using the normal rules of science or logic. But there are many things that we accept as being true that we dont really understand with things like the oceans, the universe and so on. Even when we are given an answer on them, we ultimately have to accept the word of the person telling us.

Yes! It is a command of Yeshua (Jesus). Many churches teach there are no longer miracles such as, healing, tongues, casting out devils.

In spite of pastors that teach theology and psychology, it does exist. These are the words of Jesus himself.

Mark 16: 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Many churches use this scripture to "prove" these miracles do not exist past the original apostles...

1 Corinthians 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there beknowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

But notice what it says... "But when that which is perfect is come", this is the coming of Jesus to get his church. Many denominations teach this is the bible. It is not, even John bears witness...

John 21:24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

The bible states itself that it is not complete in its recordings of Jesus, or in the predictions of the Old Testament. I am not saying the bible is inaccurate... It is 100% accurate, it is not comprehensive of everything that was done in the Life and teachings of Jesus.

The miracles are to last until the end of this age, which is grace. The reason we are to do miracles is: (The words of Yeshua)

John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

We have two forms of preaching the gospel, the word preached/declared by men AND God's own display of power through HIS people.

For this reason it leaves those who have heard and saw for themselves the display of God's power responsible to make the correct decision, they will be held accountable for the witness they have received.

A:

Views held by Christians about miracles do vary, but a common factor is the belief that miracles of God are real, whereas the miracles of other religions are not real. Catholics believe that miracles are performed by the intercession of saints and, when events are accepted as actual miracles by the Catholic Church, the person to whom they are attributed is canonised as a saint. Thomas Aquinas (Contra Gentiles) thought miracles proved the truth of Christianity, since "a visible work that can be from God alone proves the teacher of truth to be invisibly inspired."

Minority views, even among Christians but especially among scholars, is that miracles do not happen. The great British philosopher David Hume (Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, Of Miracles) believed that miracles must be thought of as possible, but says there is no evidence sufficient to establish that any of the claimed historical miracles actually occurred.

Why do you think different christians have different attitudes to miracles?

Miracles are real, maybe some Christians haven't realized it yet, but Christians can join together and by Christian faith can pray forth miracles or cast out diseases and infirmities. The miracles are from God, not from the people, but by faith healings can happen.

What are xn's beliefes in miracles?

There are a wide variety of beliefs in miracles throughout the Christian community. Many Christians believe that God worked miracles in ancient times directly or through the prophets, as reported in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament,) as well as the miracles performed by Christs, Apostles and early disciples, recorded in the Christian Scriptures. Some churches teach that the Age of Miracles ended when the Bible came into use in the community of believers, and that there are no valid miracles occurring today. Other Christians believe and expect miracles to happen today, and are ready to "testify" to their experience of God's direct and miraculous intervention in their lives. Still other Christians are skeptical about all miracle stories, ancient and modern. They may be faithful believers, but find no need to believe in the supernatural in order to be followers of Jesus Christ.

What makes a Christian believe in miracles?

If you believe in God, then you also believe he has power to go beyond the understanding of the human mind. Miracles are possible, although not fully comprehendable to the limits of our understanding. Many Christians believed - and many still do - in miracles because they witnessed them. The Bible mentions many and Christians trust the word of God.
