That is a very personal decision that no one can make for you. You have to use your own judgment based on your personal religious beliefs. I would advise you to research and learn about all of the different religions before you make a decision as to which one you want to bring her up with. And, of course, the father of your child has some say in the matter, as well.

Why does godfather have to be Catholic in Catholic baptism?

When an infant is baptized in the Catholic Church, the parents choose godparents who are tasked with overseeing the spiritual upbringing of the child (should the parents' guidance not be sufficient). When the child is baptized, the godparent(s) make an oath to raise the child in the Catholic faith, which is clearly something they cannot promise if they do not believe it for themselves.

Can you have a child be baptised in the catholic church without being catholic?

Yes, you can,as long as the parents intend to raise child as Catholic and attend religious education classes, etc. The baptisng minister (priest/deacon) needs to have a founded hope this will happen. Parents should consider becoming Catholic in RCIA program. At least one of the baptism sponsors (godparent) needs to be catholic.

Most Catholic parishes ask that at least the custodial parent promises to live as a faithful Catholic and raise their child as a member of the Catholic community. You will need to discuss with your pastor how you and your child's other parent will live out your commitment to your child's future.

What religion should a child be with a Catholic and protestant parents?

Give the child time and let Him/Her make the decision.----------------------------------------------------------------Practicing Catholics usually insist the children of mixed faith marriages are raised Catholic.Opinion from a CatholicNot raising a child in any religion and expecting them to make a decision when they are older, to my knowledge, never works. A Catholic entering into a mixed marriage (the other spouse is not Catholic but is baptized) must promise to raise the children Catholic, and the spouse must be aware of this promise.

Can a Catholic single mother have her baby baptized in the Catholic Church?

YES! The Catholic Church would NEVER refuse an innocent child that wishes to become a child of God! Sometimes a priest may DELAY (NEVER deny) a baptism if there is concern about the child being raised in the Catholic faith, but that should not be the case if the mother is Catholic.

The Ukrainian Catholic Church is in union with the Holy Father and the Roman Catholic Church, so there should be no problem at all with a child baptized in that rite of the Church attending a Roman Catholic school.

Can you christen your baby Catholic if you or your partner are not?

Catholics are Christians. So any baby baptised in a Catholic Church is being baptised as a Christian. If you want your baby to be a Protestant, another type of Christian, then you would not have them baptised in a Catholic church.
