General rules of the road state that you must clear the intersection by the time the red light illuminates; if there was traffic preventing you from clearing the intersection before you entered it on a yellow light then you should not have entered the intersection because of impediments to traffic.

You should always look for a yield sign, or oncoming traffic.

When a traffic light is turned off what should you do?

You should treat it as a stop sign. If there is a power outage or malfunctioning light, come to a complete stop at the intersection and yield to cars that stopped before you did.

What does it mean the vehicle on the right has the right away at a four way stop?

When it is stated that the vehicle on the right has the right of way at a four-way stop, it means that the vehicle approaching the intersection from the right should proceed first. This is a rule of priority that helps to regulate traffic flow and avoid accidents. The other vehicles at the intersection should wait for the vehicle on the right to go before proceeding.

When making a left hand turn at a traffic light you have merged out into the intersection but there is no clear time to make a safe left the light goes to red. Is it legal to make the turn?

The answer is yes. As long as you have ENTERED the intersection BEFORE the red light, and you CANNOT safely turn left due to traffic, then a left turn on red is completely legal. This is also because all cars are supposed to be cleared of an intersection upon any red light, to keep traffic flow at the optimum pace. However, in some jurisdictions you are required to wait at the stop line in your lane thereby not entering the intersection until it is safe to turn. You should check the laws and practices in your jurisdiction to avoid receiving traffic violations. You should take extra precautions when traveling out of your usual area such as in another state. Some states are harsh on out-of-state drivers.

What precautions should a driver take at uncontrolled intersections?

When approaching an intersection of this type, you shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle which has entered the intersection on your right or is approaching the intersection from your right. If the road to your right is clear, or if approaching vehicles are far enough from the intersection to make your crossing safe, you may proceed. Since there are no traffic controls at this intersection, make sure that there are no approaching vehicles from the left. you may legally have the right-of-way, but you should be sur the other driver yield to you before you proceed. [4-2] Look this up!!! :)

What is controlled intersections?

Controlled intersections have traffic lights, yield signs or stop signs to control traffic. At a controlled intersection where you face a green light, drive carefully through the intersection at a steady speed. If the light has been green for a while, be prepared to stop when it turns yellow. However, if you are already so close that you cannot stop safely, drive through the intersection with caution. Where you face a red light, come to a complete stop and wait until the light turns green. When you approach an intersection on a main road, and the intersection is blocked with traffic, stop before entering the intersection and wait until the traffic ahead moves on. This does not apply if you are turning left or right. At a controlled intersection where you face a yield sign, slow down or stop if necessary and wait until the way is clear before driving through the intersection. At a controlled intersection where you face a stop sign, come to a complete stop. Drive through the intersection only when the way is clear (Diagram 2-15).

What is the right sentence choice you waited for a break in traffic or you waited for a brake in traffic?

You waited for a break in traffic. When another driver cut in front of you, you applied your car brakes, and again waited for a break in traffic before going through the intersection.

Reduce your speed slightly and observe traffic ahead before arriving at the intersection.
