From a purely non-religious perspective, it would have prevented Islam from undergoing the Sunni-Shiite schism and prevented the Fitna al-Kubra in early Islamic history if Mohammed had chosen a clear line of successors. So, in my view, he should have done so. Any empire-builder who did not leave clear successors resulted in the fracturing of that state like Alexander the great and Mohammed.
Answer 3- First comparing Alexander the Great with prophet Muhammad is misleading and correct. It is the same as comparing Jesus with Hitler. Both not correct. You never compare a prophet to an emperor. The emperor behaves on his own but the prophet behaves according to God instructions to him.

- Fourth Prophet Muhammad didn't make an empire based on force and people suppression to be fractured after his death. The empire included all religions and faiths and all were having equal civil rights. You may recall that a Jewish and Ali Abou Taleb were judged in a case and the Judge sentence was in favor of the Jewish.
