How can a benign nodule on the thyroid be removed?

I only know my own experience. I had a longstanding nodule that tripled in size relatively quickly to 1.5 centimeter. I had to wait six weeks for a biopsy. I had an ultrasound performed in order to locate the nodule and it was gone. It's very, very weird (especially with what I was expecting). The doctor was very surprised but it obviously happens.

Would a benign ten cm spinal cord tumor have to be surgically removed or can it be safely left alone?

If you can have it removed! I myself had a benign spinal cord tumor removed 9 months ago and still am recovering from it. The spinal cord tumor may likely just keep growing in size and cause more compressison on the spinal cord. This compression can lead to many bad symptoms and ultimately paralysis (in my case it would of at least).

Benign fibromas can be removed or left alone. One should examine the fibroma and determine whether it may be malignant. If there is any question as to whether it may be cancer-related, it should be removed. This is usually a brief outpatient procedure.
