no that probably means ur oil pump is out or goin out and if it goes back up when u turn the car on its probably ok
Fuel pressure should read no less then 9 LBS. and no more then 13 LBS. And yes it should hold the pressure with key on, engine off.
Does it have Oil Pressure while cranking--some vehicles use a safety control that shuts off fuel supply if no oil pressure exists
Yes, I believe so. If you try to replace the fuel filter, the first step is to relieve the pressure by pulling the pump fuse and cranking the engine for a few seconds to relieve the pressure.
Presumably you mean slow cranking. Check for weak battery or bad starter. If not slow cranking so much as long cranking time check for loss of fuel pressure overnight using fuel pressure gauge. If so, suspect leaking injector or possibly leaking regulator.
Just put a new pump in mine and it now has 89.52psi. 28psi is very low.
the fuel pressure pump on a 365 ci 1957 cady engine should be 5-1/4 to 6-1/2 lbs per sq. in at cranking speed. Al.
check your fuel pressure at the rail. the regulator may be going bad. * turn key to on but not running. check for pressure. fuel pressure should hold for about 1-2 min at the rail before it bleads down. if you have an inital blast of pressure and then it is gone in 10-20 seconds change the regulator.
With the engine cranking & the vacuum off 2.4-2.7 bargauge to be connected between fuel supply pipe & fuel rail.
The fuel pressure on a 1998 Ford Escort should be between 40 and 60 psi at idle and not drop below 35psi under acceleration.
On the V6 version the fuel pressure at the Schroeder valve should start at 45 psi before starting and will drop to about 35 to 40 psi running.
You first need to make sure that you have a spark at the plug wire where it snaps onto the plug. If you don't get a spark there when you are cranking the engine over then you should replace the igniton module in the distributor more then likely. If you do have a spark at the wire then you need to check the fuel pressure and it should have 9 to 13 LBS. of fuel pressure while cranking the engine over.If it don't but it does have some pressure then you need to replace the fuel pump in the fuel tank.If it has NO fuel pressure at all then check the fuel pump relay and fuse under the black plastic cover mounted on the passenger side fire wall.If you don't find your problem in this area, Then please ask your question again telling us what you have checked and what your problem still is.
this question makes no sense ? i assume you mean prevent the car from cranking??? if so then no. a bad fuel pump may stop the car from running or starting but it should not stop it from cranking. a bad fuel pump relay could stop the car from cranking but that would depend on the year make and model of your car.
