this question makes no sense ? i assume you mean prevent the car from cranking??? if so then no. a bad fuel pump may stop the car from running or starting but it should not stop it from cranking. a bad fuel pump relay could stop the car from cranking but that would depend on the year make and model of your car.
replace the distibuter
My 1997 SC2 fuel pump failed one morning, the car had been starting, but would crank for several seconds before finally starting. I didn't realize this was a problem as I bought the car used and it always did this. Apparently, a failing fuel pump does not seal properly and when the car is parked, the fuel in the line drains back to the tank; therefore, the excessive cranking is related to priming the pump and fuel line.
A fuel pump relay switch can cause your car to stall after starting. A malfunctioning fuel pump relay switch can cause your car to not start at all.
main engine relay should be replaced with fuel pump relay. Are you sure your fuel filter is not plugged.
If your car is cranking fast, but not starting it is either fuel or fire, so check the plugs to make shure they are getting spark, if they are it is probully the fuel pump or filter.
Could be a number of things but if it was starting O.K. one minute and then started acting up, Crankshaft sensor, down by the air conditioning compressor, Cam sensor, behind the power steering filler upper. Or also could be the fuel pump or fuel pump relay .
Cranking the car or starting the car in cold weather can wear out a car battery. You can also wear out the battery by turning the starter over without fuel in the tank.
Your new fuel pump is apparently defective. A fuel pump is required to supply fuel to the engine, and the engine cannot run (and of course not start) without a supply of fuel.
im not totaly familiar with this particular car but you may have inadvertently tripped the security ignition cut-out,if in fact they have one, hope it helps ,can you specify which circuit the fuse protects? The Beetle doe not have a security cut out. Is the car cranking over? If not check your fuses on top of battery if it is cranking then check your fuel pump relay if that is not the problem it is probably the fuel pump they go just like that. Turn the car off and it will not start fuel pump is bad
no that probably means ur oil pump is out or goin out and if it goes back up when u turn the car on its probably ok
broken fuel pump/ fuel filter can cause car to die right after starting. If the fuel pump is not pumping fuel into the engine, the car will stall.
