What is the OD light on a 2000 Kia Spectra?

Over Drive. The overdrive should always be engaged. NO the overdrive should not always be engaged, you will eat more gas around the city and put more stress on you tranny, ans those trannys dont need that

On your 1997 grand Cherokee touse the overdrive should the light on the dash be on or off?

If you want the overdrive to be on, the light should be off on the dash. The picture on the button has the D in a circle with a line through it, just like a sign that says means "no smoking" & has the cigarette. Overdrive is always on when you start the vehicle.

Do you put a 2005 Jeep Wrangler in overdrive when not towing?

I am a bit confused. Overdrive is a high gear used for highway purposes. You should always try to use overdrive unless the Jeep is under a heavy load or climbing hills. Thus when towing it's probably best to not to use overdrive.

Is overdrive always in default option?

For cars that have an automatic transmission, overdrive lockout turned 'off' (overdrive will engage), is the default option.

Should you be in Drive or Overdrive when driving in the city at typical city speeds?

Unless you are towing something or encountering steep hills (do you live in San Fran?), you should always be in overdrive. The lock-up into overdrive won't occur unless you are going fast enough, anyway, so there is no reason not to keep the gear selector in OD.

Should overdrive be on in ford Thunderbird?

The overdrive is designed for speeds after 50 mph so your overdrive should not be engaged until you are driving on the highway. The overdrive gear is designed for fuel efficiency and does nothing in town.

Should you leave overdrive on in mercury mountaineer?

Overdrive is the normally allowed position Until you are travelling around 50 MPH / 80 KPH it won't shift into overdrive anyway If you are towing something , or driving in hilly country where the transmission is always downshifting , then you can shut the overdrive off and the O/D OFF light will light up in your dash

What is overdrive off?

Your vehicle has an overdrive button on the shifter maybe. When you start your vehicle, overdrive is always on. When you tow something, you want the overdrive to be off, otherwise the transmission will run hot and that will lead to bigger problems.
