Yes. The effectiveness of evening primrose oil stems from an ingredient called gamma-linolenic acid, or GLA, an essential fatty acid thought to have anti-inflammatory and other healing properties. When ingested, GLA is converted to prostaglandins, compounds that help regulate several bodily functions and can either control or contribute to the control of inflammation. Evening Primrose is also used for relief from certain skin conditions and for diabetic control.

I am not a doctor but I AM a post menopausal woman who recently starting taking Evening Primrose Oil. It was recommended to me by a lovely woman who had gone through simialr things....feeling emotional, anxious, blah, aches, dry skin, etc.

If it is safe for children to take, I thought what the heck....I'll try it.

After one week, the dry skin around my eyebrows and nose has gone. I DO feel a little bit less anxious and my emotions are a little bit more even. My aches also seem to have diminished....

Of course, this could all be in my head, except for the dry skin thing, which is very real and measurable....so I say YES, try it and see if it helps you.
