No. You make sure it is off. If a disk light, or the light of any kind of storage drive, is still on, then it is active and should not be removed.

That's happened to me before!! All you have to do is restart your computer and it will do either: a) spit out the disk, and you can put it back in and it should work. b) recognize the disk.
