For 2 or 3 seconds you will hear the fuel pump run , before starting the engine , when the ignition key is turned to the on / run position
Is the fuel pump actually running. Turn the ignition to the on position without starting the engine and you should hear the pump run for a few seconds. If you do not check the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay. If they are both good replace the fuel filter as it may be clogged. Lastly, it is possible that new fuel pump is defective. Is the fuel pump actually running. fuel pump relay
Turn the ignition key to the run position and pump the accelerator 3 times within 5 seconds.
the relay opens a power on yourfuel pump when the ignition key is on position.(it acts like a switch)

Put gas in the tank and cycle the ignition switch on and off several times pausing briefly in the on position. The electric fuel pump will pump the gas up to the engine.
Electric fuel pump--Usually always when the ignition is on. Mechanical fuel pump--When the engine is turning.
The fuel pump relay, is controlled by the EEC module, which provides power to fuel pump under various operating conditions. When ignition is in "OFF" position, EEC power and fuel pump relay contacts are open. After engine starts, power to fuel pump is supplied through fuel pump relay. EEC module senses engine speed and shuts off fuel pump relay when engine stops.
If you don't smell gas or see any gas leaking push the reset button DOWN that is on top of the fuel pump shut off switch ( inertia switch ) if it has popped up - turn your ignition key to the RUN position for a few seconds and then turn your ignition key to the OFF position - make another check for the smell of gas or any gas leaking , if none , go ahead and start the engine You may have to turn your ignition key to the RUN position and then OFF again a few times before the engine will start
Your Jimmy has a crankshaft position sensor mounted by your crankshaft pully in the front of your engine on the bottom. If the senor is bad your engine does not recognize that your engine is turning and will not fire the plugs. Try changing your sensor and your engine should start.
yes, there should be power if key is on
