Cats bathe themselves daily, if they are healthy. Normally it is not necessary for them to be bathed by a human in water, unless they become unusually dirty or get grease or some other dangerous thing in their fur. And most cats do not like being put in water. But if you do bathe a cat, use lukewarm water and do not leave the tap running while the cat is in the water.

∙ 14y agoIt is not ok to give a cat a bath frequently. If your cat was to step in oil or something similar, you NEED to give it a bath right away before it starts to lick its paws. If they are being trained to use a litter box,or have bathroom issues, you sould also.

∙ 14y agoNo. It's never necessary to give a cat a bath. Unless the cat has been rolling around in mud or something, but cats tend not to do that. The only possible reason I can think of for giving a cat a bath is if the cat had been sprayed by a skunk.

I give my cats a bath every two to three months, every month if they are dirtier then usual.
I bathe my cats with Natural Defense Flea Shampoo for Cats and Kittens
It smells lovely, keeps fleas away, and makes them extremely soft and shiny.
After the bath, do NOT blow dry your innocent kitty. They will most likely scratch the heck out of you and you'll regret it (learn from my experience). Rather, towel dry them gently and lovingly, and if you have it, brush them with a special cat brush :) hope that helped
