Each time a Betta flares and puts on a display it is reputed to shorten his lifespan. I would not advise anyone to place a mirror permanently in view of a male Betta because the fish would obviously feel under constant threat and could easily die from stress.
bettas are aggressive to other bettas. when they see themselves in a mirror they think it is another betta. the bettas instinct is to look a lot bigger by opening their gills and spreading their fins out and most of the time they fight to the death by nipping at each other.
No, if you do the fish will keep attacking his reflection. He will be stress most of the time and may get sick.
Yes , it shouldn't do nothing but see its reflection nothing to it .(;
It depends on the type/brand of conditioner, and how much water is the Betta tank can hold.
it depends i have a male with a female betta, in a 2.5 gallon tank,they get along, i wouldnt risk it, no
The tank should be changed partially (25%) weekly.
yes they can live beside each other i have a tank in the hexagon with all of them beside each other. they will try to fight still but that is normal.
Not nessessarily. Bettas tend to get listless and lazy if you don't change their water often, and if they have no stimulation. Theres a great product out there called a Floating Betta Exercise Mirror that will make your betta think there is another betta in the tank. It can be used to stimulate the fish into more activity. You can find them online, at www.bigalsonline.com (product #25109).
If you betta is in a small tank, placing it in a location that has a warm ambient room temperature should be enough to keep it to betta preferred warmth. If you do not, then you should look at getting a small heater for your tank, but you may need to get a larger tank to allow for the use of a heater as there are no heater models made for anything smaller than a 2.5 to 5 gallon tank.
you can put a betta in a 54 gallon tank
A betta is best as a solitary fish and it would be better to remove it from your main tank and give it a small tank to itself. You can buy very inexpensive betta tank kits for one betta.
If you would like to know what gender your betta is, look for the egg spot. (for females) It should be a small white cloud between the head and body. If your betta has one, it's a female. If your betta doesn't have one, it's a male.
Yes, your betta water conditioner should be a standard water conditioner that can be used in any fish tank.
A minimal tank size of 2.5 gallons is recommended for a single Betta fish.
Only 1. Usually a Betta is all that is kept in a 3 gallon tank
