Dear friend:
I've just bought a 1993 XLT Explorer and found that the power steering pump made a loud noise. I made seals changed and there's no difference. Serviceman told me that replacing the pump is the only way way to solve the problem.

My Ford Explorer takes automatic transmission fluid for the power steering fluid so I guess it would depend on what type of vehicle you have and what type of power steering fluid is supposed to be used
In the trunk. The power steering fluid reservoir should instead be filled with Mopar ATF+3 or equivalent meeting the +3 standard.
Transmission fluid should not be used in place of power steering fluid. Power steering fluid is less compressible so that it can transfer power to different systems. Transmission fluid is meant for lubrication and has higher dimulsibility than power steering fluid.
I asked the question: I was lucking I just had a hole in the holes they patched it for 40 bucks never think any things broken till your sure... was told if it was the pump I should of not been able to move the steering wheel at all.
You should not have to repair or replace the flooring when repairing the bath faucet. Unless you had a water leak that resulted in lots of water damage to the flooring.
My husband says not to worry. He puts it in his truck power-steering fluid frequently. It's best to use PS fluid, but tran fluid can be substituted in a pinch. TURN YOUR KEY OFF. THEN TURN THE STEERING WHEEL - IT MAYBE HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL - USE BOTH HANDS AND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BOTH WAYS. IT SHOULD UNLOCK THE WHEEL.

The data link connector is in your dash , below the steering wheel . You should see a little rectangular plastic panel that you can remove easily . The connector is behind the plastic panel
