My koi pond is black, with stone sides. . .to me this makes the fish very visible I would google image "koi pond" to get a better idea. At koi shows they are displayed in blue tubs. Web sites that have koi for sale show all their koi on blue backgrounds. Some koi have black in them and some are completely black. With a black background the black fish disappears. There are many places to purchase pond fish. A local home improvement or garden store will be the easiest place to find pond fish. Also online retailers will offer pond fish.
It is a form of cancer. It isn't really known how fish get it.
There is no problem with a molly living in a pond. Be sure that there is adequate shade during the summer and that the pond is deep enough so that the water won't "cook" the fish in the heat. Also keep in mind mollies do like a little salt in their water.
If the pond is not deep, the fish can leave the pond. It is important to take good care of them or they will be tempted to leave.
