How does the pool vacuum work?

The same as the floor vacuum inside the house but instead of it sucking air it sucks water through the filter. Just run the pool hose from the pool vacuum to the vacuum plate over the top of the leaf basket. then turn on the pump and runi t along the floor of the pool.

What type of pump do you need to drain 24' dia x 4' deep above ground pool?

You could use your pool pump. or get a submersible pump. it is also not difficult to siphon an above ground pool with a pool vacuum hose. all you need is somewhere to run the water to.

Your pool does not have a to waste pump function. How do you get rid of the floc stuff on the bottom of your pool?

(Note : "floc" is the flakes that come out of colloidal suspension of pool chemicals.) You need to vacuum the floc from the bottom. However if you can't set your pool to waste, you can disconnect the pump hose from the pool and run it normally.

Do you still need to run your vacuum 8 hours a day if you are keeping the cover on and the pool is not in use?

if you have closed your pool down for the winter (i.e. winterized it) then no. you should have put in a good dose of chemicals & if you live in an area the freezes you should drain the pool an inch or two below the water jets so you won't be able to run the pump anyway

Do you leave filter pump on while shocking your pool or?

Do you run the pump after putting flocculent in?

When you put floculant in the pool you do not run the pump. you let the pool sit still for about two days. This will allow it to settle. After that time you will notice that there Is a cloudy area at the bottom of the pool. This is the floculant and all the contaminants that it has dragged down to the bottom as it settled. This will need to be vacuumed to waste DO NOT PUT THIS STUFF THROUGH THE FILTER,(VACUUM IT TO WASTE.) It's ok to pump it but not to run it through the filter.

Will a 4000 gallon per hour filter type pool pump be strong enough to run a pool vacuum with hoses?

Need to know what horse power you are thinking of. B T W the pump is not the filter. The filter is the large tank.

How long do you need to run your pool pump. There is a self chlorinator in the system. Salt water pool. Located in the Treasure Coast of Fl?

The amount of time the pump should run for any pool will depend on a few things. Hotter seaons will require your pump to run about 8 hours. Running your pump in hotter seaons also require that the pump runs during the hottest part of the day. You may cut the hours to about 6, or as low as 4 during winter. Please keep in mind "bather load" or heating the pool in the winter can effect the hours your pump should run. During winter pump should be ran at night to avoid freezing of pipes

Should an ingound pool filter be run at the same time as a pool heater or can you just run the heater alone?

Heaters are usually plumbed in after the filter. The pool filter/pump is what circulates the heated water. Ans: The heater will not work or fire if the pump is not running.

When adding aluminum sulphate to swimming pool should the filter be running?

Pool pumps are built to run rain or shine, day or night, or all the time. Depends on your particular useage.

Why does your swimming pool pump work when you plug it the garage but when you hook to swimming pool does not work?

You should never run a swimming-pool pump dry! The most likely problem, from the rather flimsy evidence in your question hinting at it not rotating, is not with the pump or its motor but a fault in the electrical supply to the pool plant, or in the timer or other pump controller.
