It is generally possible to sew them on (unless the patch fabric is too heavy to stitch) but the whole point of a patch being a labour-saving "iron on" is that this is the way it is intended to be fixed to the garment.

Take the leather item to a shoe repair and see what they can do. If you have a decal that can be sewn onto leather they may be able to help or refer you to someone who can.

I would not recommend it. By the time you get the glue on the patch warm enough, you'll probably burn/melt the polyester.

If it's iron on it will have a sort of thin, shiny, clear plastic- looking stuff on the back of it, whereas if it's sewn on it wont have that :)

How do you repair a torn knee on a pair of jeans?

It really depends on the size of the tear. There are patches made out of denim which may be ironed on that are easily found. You could also make your own cute patch out of a favorite fabric, back it with heat and bond "light", iron it on the outside of the jeans then sew around the edges with regular thread or a decrative thread. If you use the regular heat and bond or extra hold, you will not need to sew the edges as it is strong enough to stay in place without stitching, plus the needle will gum up if you try to sew through it. Use your imagination and have fun.

Are iron on name tags better than sew on name tags?

Iron-on name tags are much quicker to use, you just iron them on for about 8 seconds. If you choose a quality product, iron-on name tags will not fall off in the wash. Now you can even get color iron on name tags. Sew on name tags are fine, Cash's is the traditional provider of sew on name tags, as long as you are happy to sew on everything.

How do you apply an iron-on patch to a denim jacket?

First, make sure that the jacket is clean and dry. Heat up your iron--better to not use steam--to a cotton setting (the patch label may say otherwise, so follow that). Place the area of the jacket you want to patch so that it is flat on the ironing board. Make sure it will stay in position so you can leave it to cool after you put the patch on. Heat up the area by placing the iron on it for a few moments--make sure the area has no wrinkles. Place the patch on the warm area of the jacket, hold the iron still to melt the glue, and then gently press along all of the edges. If this is a repair patch rather than being a decorative patch, then cut the patch into a circular shape before ironing it on. This will help prevent peeling. Leave the patch in place to cool for a few hours. omg this is like so easy make a quilt then just put them together first you turn the clothing in side out, then you put the patch on. you need to get thread that matches the clothing so it blends in. just use a sewing machine.

How do you sew yoyos?

Sew 2 of the patches together, stopping 1/4" away from the edge of the fabric, and backstitching a few stitches. Push the seam allowances to one side, and sew the 3rd patch to one side of the Y, stopping your seam right before the needle pierces the stitches from the first seam. (The edge of the 3rd patch will extend 1/4" past the intersection of the 2 seams.) Sew the other side of the Y the same way, making sure you don't sew into or past the other seam lines.
