There seems to be a big difference in opinion on this question. Most SEO companies say a definite yes. Having studied the competitors to my own websites it seemed that the ones that ranked well with Google were listed in the Yahoo Directory.
I listed my oldest website (3 years) with Yahoo recently and within a few weeks of being listed instead of appearing on page 3-8 of Google for my keywords I went to page 1 for all of them.
It seems that although nobody much uses Yahoo anymore and it's unlikely to drive lots of traffic your way it is beneficial to be listed. Google uses the Yahoo Directory like DMOZ as a reference for your site. I guess it assumes that you're serious about your site especially if you have stumped up the $299.

Why should you submit your link to a directory?
Basically a website directory, yellow pages, business directory contents are highly search engine friendly. The one of the reasons is that the search engine like Google loves the new contents, a website with high number of pages etc etc. A business directory is updated almost every minute which means one of its pages change every minute because of the submissions of various website owners wanting to place their link.
