yes.. because also the security system can get screwy if you get rid of the stock.. my freind ran hers to under the passengers side seat.. you can do whatever.. but keeping the stock radio in will really help you..
There is no fuse, it is directly connected and when it burns out it destroys the wire harness. Found this out the hard way on my 07 Impala.
Yeah you can get one for around $80 to $100 dollars! For some reason GM decided to run their diagnostics through the factory radio, door chime, etc. so the wire harness is expensive. Makes it a pain to do custom work to your car. They really should change this or give a good reason why the wire harness for GMs are $100 but $8 for other brands of cars.
well is it a radio wire harness because if so yes
Begin by removing the wiring harness from your 2005 Chevrolet Impala horn. Remove the horn retaining bolts. The horn will come off.
you need to make sure that you purchased the right harness for your year and model, (i have a 2005 impala and just did this about 3 months ago). make sure that you splice the right wires for each speaker into the harness that you bought for you car (NOT the CD Player Harness), note that the speakers and all the wires you need to splice will be the same colors as the ones that you are splicing them into. then you will need to install a dash CD player instillation kit, or a deck. afterwards, your CD player should be running right.
good luck trying tio find one
ADDITION: There are amny many factors that go into the make-up of a wiring harness, depending on which harness for which part of the car you are refering to. the only way to tell is to have the VIN# of both cars, and go to dealer parts dept. and do some research with them. Vehicle options, such as engine size, power window, ABS, radio options, interior design, etc. all play a role. Very unlikely just swapping a harness form one car to another will work without some modification- either major or minor. no the harness is different the 1996 has obd-II and crank sensor. but should swap ok
the special wiring harness that you purchased is used for accessories such as your radio controls in the steering wheel, door chimes, and the beep for when your lights are still on. Other than that, if you have the harness itself hooked up to the speakers RIGHT and the CD player RIGHT, then you should have no problems and no worries.

if you run the amp to accesories you should not have a problem or run it straight to battery and use appropriate inline fuses If you own an LS there should allready be an amp back there(top of the trunk)
