Let's see...you pay the bill, your child isn't supposed to have the phone at school, s/he's done something outrageous. Yes, I'd take the phone in a heartbeat.

Hmmmm, I don't see a cell phone in that list as a fundamental right. Cell phones are a privilege, not a right. Didn't your parents take away your goodies when you were punished? Unless your child is in a place where there is no supervision, you should do as you see fit, which might include taking the phone privileges away.
Alright...this is cowgirl4ever and I actually think that in some cases it is necessary but don't go crazy with the power of being able to "take your phone away". Like say your child has a C in algebra. If its not the report card, chill out. Their grades WILL get better with just a simple lecture. Find another punishment, even though cell phone isn't on that list Your child needs their phone sometimes.
