I just want to say first that I am not a doctor and can only offer my opinion as a female adult who has struggled with maintaining my weight since I was about 10 years old. I weighed 120 lbs in the fourth grade and I was not comfortable with my body at all. Most of the girls in my class were sticks! I developed early and just felt huge in comparison to my classmates. In all actuality, looking back at pictures, I realize now that I was a pretty normal sized kid. With a butt and boobs quite a bit earlier that normal. I am rambling, but the point of my message is, do you think you need to lose weight because of a number on a scale or because you just don't feel good about yourself? It is important at a young age to really try not to compare yourself to those around you ( I know it is sooo hard.) Do I think that you should try to lose weight because you are 10 and 106 lbs?? NO! absolutely not! I do think you should start exercising on a regular basis ( something fun like tae bo or swimming) and make it a habit to eat protein and fiber rich foods and stay away from fast food and anything fried. Do this because you want to be a healthy kid and later a healthy adult, not because you need to lose weight. If I had the mindset that I do now when I was your age, I would have saved myself a lot of heart ache- the image in the mirror is rarely the image that other people see when they look at you. you're beautiful, love yourself!
