frontal
Thumb abduction and adduction is in the sagittal plane. However, finger abduction and adduction is in the frontal/coronal plane. Do these movements in the anatomical position and that will help you see that the thumb is not abducting or adducting in the frontal plane rather the sagittal plane.
Flexibility is measured by the range of motion. The range of movement is measured by using a goniometer: hip flexion, hip extension, hip adbuction, hip adduction, shoulder adduction, shoulder fexion, shoulder extension, elbow flexion/extension, and knee flexion/extension.mile run
It contributes to adduction, horizontal adduction, and flexion of the humerus, enabling the arm to swing forwards, and it is a synergist of the pectoralis minor.
Adduction- rowing Abduction- gymnastics
Movement>prime mover. Abduction>deltoid. Adduction>gravity. Flexion>pectoralis major(sternal part). Extension>teres major. Medial rotation>pectoralis major(sternal). Lateral rotation>infraspinatus.
The glenohumeral joint is commonly known as the shoulder joint it is not a muscle. It acts functionally as a diarthrosis and multiaxial joint. It is the most moveable joint in the body.Flexion and extension of the shoulder joint in the (sagittal plane).Abduction and adduction of the shoulder (frontal plane).Horizontal abduction and horizontal adduction of the shoulder (transverse plane).Medial and lateral rotation of shoulder (also known as internal and external rotation).Circumduction of the shoulder (a combination of flexion/extension and abduction/adduction).
Because shoulder horizontal adduction is performed when the arm is horizontal position (i.e., the elbow is level with shoulder) and adduction is movement toward the center of the body, shoulder horizontal adduction is performed primarily by pectoralis major and anterior deltoid, with an assist by latissimus dorsi.
Shoulder adductors. Abduction means moving away from the median plane of the body and adduction means moving towards the median plane of the body.
Pectoralis moves the shoulder joint. It has a sternal and clavicular end , it helps in shoulder joint adduction, cross arm adduction and overhead. Adduction movement means bringing the shoulder towards midline
the antagonist of adduction is the pectoralis major
The latissimus dorsi and pectorals major are synergists for shoulder adduction
shoulder flexion shoulder adduction shoulder horizontal extension
There are four muscles used for horizontal adduction of the shoulder. These muscles are the pectorals major, middle deltoid, latissimus dorsi, and coracobrachilis.
Adduction of upper arm at the shoulder
The muscles that perform adduction to the shoulder include the pectoralis major, lattissimus dors, but these are the primary movers. The fixators that do adduction are the subscapularis and teres major.
