I do not see how this is even a real question, it doesnt make sense. But having just recently installed dsl myself, a CD should have come with the modem, which you put in your computer, giving you step my step instructions.
To communicate over a phone line, your computer needs a modem
No it needs to be connected to a TV
Because you PC needs to connect to that modem your ISP provide. You could either wire them both or set it up like the modem wired to a wireless router "the transmitter" and an internal wireless LAN card or a wireless USB adapter as "the receiver" of your PC. The later is what WiFi hot spot area uses.
It needs a wireless card or it should be connected to computer connected to the wireless router you are using for your network.
It's not that it makes the Internet respond, it makes your DSL modem respond. Occasionally DSL and Cable modems will become unresponsive for whatever reason. Disconnecting and reconnting the Internet connection cable is one way to "wake up" the modem. Often that doesn't work and you have to reboot the computer or power-cycle the modem. Annoying but sometimes necessary. The way my ISP, who gave me my DSL modem to use, explained it is that, like a computer, every now and then, the modem just needs to be reset or rebooted, much like your computer
You do not need to know much about computers to use VoIP. What you will need is some basic networking skills, which are very easy to learn. Most VoIP providers include installation instructions with a router when you buy their services. The router only needs to be connected between the modem and computer. If it is a soft-phone (software) then yes, you will need some computer knowledge to use it.
It needs to be run from the wall to a network switch. If all the wall jacks are to a switch, any computers plugged into the wall jacks will be able to network with each other locally. (for such things as sharing folders and printers) If the Switch is then plugged into a working modem, the modem gives the switch access to the net. So for a wall jack to be "live" it needs to have cable run to the switch, and the switch will need to be plugged into a standard power outlet. to summarize: computer---->wall jack----->switch----->modem----->internet ____________________________________________________________________ you can also run it like so: computer---->wall jack----->modem----->internet (the switch simply splits the 1 modem connection into many connections. This allows more than 1 computer to connect to the net from that 1 modem)
This is a five part process that only needs your modem and computer to complete. You need to get in the control panel of your compute. Then the network and sharing center. From here enter the adapter settings, do what you need to do, and hit apply.
You've answered your own question. The device is called a Modem (Modulator demodulator). Some computers needed a separate device, later ones had the modem built in and only needed a telephone cord, between the computer and the phone socket. These days broadband is used. The computer's Local Area Network (LAN) socket is connected through a device called an ADSL (Asynchros Digital Subscriber Line) Router. This needs to connect through a filter to the telephone line, to stop interference on the telephone, which can be used at the same time.
Fix a modem? You would be better of buying or getting a new modem Depending on your needs they can be cheap or more expensive.
The router cannot supply internet without the modem. The computer cannot receive internet without the modem. The modem from your ISP is what supplies your internet, and without it, you cannot have internet, even with a router.
