How does the wires from the spark plug go to the rotor, which order?
Aren't they inside the distributor cap on that model? It's probably just two screws and it comes right out, then unplug the wires. BTW, make sure you mark the sparkplug wires with a piece of tape or some other way to show which wires go to which position on the distributor. You don't want to get them crossed.

There is 4 terminals on the right hand side of the distributor cap were the wires go. It will be the first one on the cap towards the front. That is if the distributor is in right.
The wiring order also called firing order is 18436572 some distributor caps show the #1 plug connector, which in most cases is the first post on the right side facing the back side of the carburater. start there and go clockwise with your wires in the 18436572 firing order.

Assuming the car is a V8, have someone show you how to get the #1 cylinder (front one on driver's side) to Top Dead Center. Remove distributor cap and note where the rotor is pointing. Reinstall distributor cap. Where the rotor was pointing is where you insert #1 plug wire. From there insert the rest of the plug wires (clockwise)1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 From the front-- 1-3-5-7 are on the drivers side and 2-4-6-8 are on the passenger's side. Make sure to install coil wire to distributor. If the timing marks are on "0", turn the distributor about 1/4 inch counterclockwise to give it enough advance to start. Next, have someone show you how to use a timing light.
Your engine can misfire and a code will not show if: 1 your could be arcing if they are laying across each other 2 the wires are arcing against the engine or other metal object 3 one of your spark plugs is fouled and is not firing the cylinder 4 one of your plug wires doesnt have a good connection with plug or distributor 5 possibly a crack in the distributor cap 6 possibly faulty rotor within distributor cap
