If you're at the end of your initial contract period, and happy to keep the phone you've already got, you can usually switch to a SIM only deal. This means you carry on with your current provider, but pay less monthly rental.
I'm with 3-mobile and had an initial 18-month contract, costing £12.00 a month. At the end of the contract period, I switched to a 12 month SIM only contract, which only costs me £4.00 per month !
