Since in the animal kingdom it is potentially dangerous for a smaller being to be around a larger being does this still apply and put the guy in danger when small guys go and hug tall larger girls?

In the animal kingdom that applies to the smaller being the prey of the bigger. Or for a small rival to be near a bigger rival.

It is unlikely that the tall girls in your area will regard a short guy as "prey". Most tall girls are able to receive enough nourishment from their parents, who take care of the young tall girls for greatly extended periods of time - typically 18 to 21 years.

Society has set in place mechanisms for tall girls to be able to provide food for themselves after they leave the "nest", typically by selling their labor on the open market. It has been found that tall girls can perform just as many jobs as other humans.

As to potential rivalry issues, you may relax. The chief rival of the tall girl is other girls, of varying sizes, who all compete fiercely for mates amongst the available population of boys - or sometimes, men.

Unless you are competing with them for the attention of a boy or man, they will not regard you as a rival. And if you are competing with them for those attentions, they will probably still not regard you as a "serious" rival.

You are thus free to go and "hug" a tall girl - assuming you have her consent. Tall girls, like all girls, and women, do not respond well to surprise displays of affection from any male, boy or man, short or tall. They may react with very loud and distinctive cries of alarm, which will attract a variety of males, some tall and big, often in blue outfits with weapons.

They will rescue the tall girl, regardless as to the size of her surprise "hugger". You would then be taken to a place where issues of "prey" and "danger from larger animals" will be an issue.
