Since my husband changed the radiator hose the check engine light is on no trax light is on and now the transmission jumps.?

When you changed the Radiator did you flush the engine to remove the transmission fluid that the already mixed with your water in the engine block. If not that would explain the presence of the fluid in the coolant holding tank.

No an overheating engine will be due to leaking coolant, a faulty radiator, a faulty water pump, lack of oil or oil that needs to be changed
