You can talk to your bank about it. And you can try and file a report with the District Attorney's office.
You have the right to be paid the amount that is mentioned in the check. You can personally negotiate with the person who wrote the bad check and ask for a fresh payment and if they do not agree to it, you can talk to an attorney and file a legal proceeding against that person for forgery.
ISSUING CHECKS WITHOUT SUFFICIENT BALANCE IN THE ACCOUNT IS ILLEGAL AND THE PERSON CAN BE LEGALLY CHARGED FOR DOING SO.
