I believe lightning is usually caused by the negative and positive neutrons and protons causing an electric shock this is also similar to static electricity, but in a more extream way :)
Energy in the form of rapidly moving molecules that are transferred to the kettle, which transfers to the water itself. The heat is caused by the friction of the molecules caused by the heating source.
Thinning of the Earth's crust is caused by the Earth's mantle heating up and expanding. As the mantle expands, large areas of the crust fall in, where they are melted.
Lightning is simply a static electrical discharge between opposite charges between clouds, or the clouds and the ground. It occurs in order to cancel out opposing charge surpluses. Thunder is simply the concussion shock wave caused by the explosive heating and expansion of the air immediately around the bolt of lightning.
It depends on whether or not they were damaged by a covered peril of the policy. For example if lightning is a peril covered on your policy, and that caused your heating and air units to stop working, then insurance would cover them.
CO2, stored in the tank is highly pressurized. The paintball being shot is caused by it being pushed out by the rapidly expanding gas. CO2 also cycles and reloads the next paintball.
A piece of metal (something metallic) may have rested against the pole (positive and negative) and caused the battery to rapidly drain - heating it up in the process.
