This should be listed under the hood on a placard. If it is missing the correct gap is .060

2.3L SOHC Gap is: .035
Need to kmow the year , they are all different. A spark plug is made to gap at a certain gap. If you take a plug that was designed to gap at .035 and gap it at .060 the engine will not run correctly and it will were the plug out fast.

A GM 2.4 liter engine in a 98 cavalier should have a spark plug gap of .050. The plugs may come pre-gapped, it is still a good idea to check them.
