check for bad bearings in alternator
OR TALK BELT OFF THEN RECRANK. IF STILL MAKING NOISE SPRAY WD 40 ROUND YOUR THROTLEBODY. CAREFUL IT IS FLAMEBLE. SEE IF NOISE STOPS OR QUITENS.
I RE-BUILT MY ALTERNATOR YESTERDAY SILL MADE NOISE, CHANGED BELT AND BELT TENSONER LAST NIGHT THEN IT MADE NOISE AGIAN.
WHILE IT WAS MAKING NOISE TODAY ME AND MY SON TOOK BELT OFF STLL MAKING NOISE "NOT BELT OR ANY PULLIES" SPRAYED THROLTE BODY WD 4O FOUND IT IS SUCKING AIR WHERE CABLE WORKS THROTLE MAKING THE HIGH PITCH LOAD NOISE. THE NOISE GOES AWAY WHEN SPRAY.

Spray hairspray on the belt if it is making the noise or replace the belt or the pulley if its making the noise.
A worn belt will cause a squealing noise. The squealing noise is caused when the belt slips. Tightening the belt will temporarily fix the problem.
Its almost sounds like a dolphin noise.
A Geo Metro is a front wheel drive vehicle. When a squealing noise occurs when the wheel is turning, it can be an indication of damage to the CV joints.
If it is like a whirring whine that is probably a normal 4X4 noise. Any other noise I'd be looking into as a problem.

More then likey it is either the left are right front wheel bearing that is bad.
i was told by a Chevy serviceman that the ticking noise was coming from the fuel injectors firing.but to me it sounded more like lifters tapping or floating.
