You should hope so. The other option is a damaged flywheel which is a much larger project than replacing a starter.
Check the 92 Camaro neutral safety switch next. If the switch is faulty then the starter will not get power to start the engine.
no if it wont turn over its either the starter motor or the starter relay in the fuse box
Remove the faulty new starter and replace it again. you know get another one. assuming you were correctly installing it.
It might happen because of a faulty starter gasket. :)
Battery condition/charging system, Dirty/loose battery connections, Dirty/loose connections at the starter, Worn out starter solenoid, Worn out brushes in starter motor, Worn out starter drive gear/flywheel assembly, Faulty or out of adjustment neutral safety switch, Faulty starter relay,
Remove the starter and take it to your local auto parts store for testing.
Either the ign. switch is faulty, or the starter is faulty Or the starter solenoid is stuck closed, so the starter is constantly engaged and getting voltage from starter relay. If so you would need to replace the solenoid.
Yes, a faulty starter solenoid can prevent a vehicle from starting. The solenoid acts as a relay that connects the battery to the starter motor; if it fails, the starter may not engage, resulting in a no-start condition. Symptoms can include clicking sounds when turning the key or complete silence, indicating that the electrical connection is not being made.
Yes, a faulty starter can prevent a 1998 Kia Sportage from starting. If the starter motor is malfunctioning or if there are issues with the electrical connections, the engine may not crank or start at all. Other potential causes for a no-start situation could include a dead battery or problems with the ignition system, but a defective starter is a common culprit.
Not much info to go on. Is the starter cranking the engine?
the starter should not stay engaged after the vehicle is running. more than likely the armuertor or the bendix is faulty. replace the starter.
if it is in fact the starter, it is probably engaging the flywheel. starter may be faulty.
