could be flooding, timing, filters, old fuel so many things.
Check the throttle position sensor
it chokes and dies duuhh
Inadequate fuel pressue probably. Check fuel pressure with proper gauge.
Push in the clutch and give it more gas.
bad fuel pump. Giving gas makes the engine demand more gas. The fuel pump cannot provide for the engine therefore no gas to complete combustion.
I would replace the fuel filter and check fuel pressure.
Yes everything that dies and it's organic matter becomes methane. Anaerobically.

adjust the Idle screw... im not sure where it is on the 1991 model but it exists...
a skunk might spray a little gas when it dies
probably bad TPS, or IAC sensors
If you give the car gas and it immediately dies but idles without giving the car gas, the VAF could be unplugged. If the car immediately dies without giving the car gas, it could have low fuel pressure, vaccum leaks, compression issues.
