It is a very involved project and too difficult to explain. Go buy a repair manual and it will give you step-by-step instructions. the starter will run you about 65 dollars
Haynes has a step-by-step repair manual with photos. You can get the book online or at a parts store.
Changing a starter is pretty much the same no matter what kind of car you have. Step 1: find it. This is first because some automakers have a REALLY creative knack for putting the starters in places you don't realize exist. Try changing one in a Corolla sometime and you'll see what I mean. Step 2: unhook the battery--I always unhook both cables, which gives me an excuse to clean and regrease the posts. Step 3: unhook the two wires--usually a fat one running to the power in on the solenoid and a thin one to kick the bendix over. Remove the two bolts holding the starter in, and extract the old starter. Step 4: installation is the reverse of removal. Step 5: reconnect the battery and go for a ride--to the auto parts store so you can get your core charge back on the old starter.
An excellent answer (with step-by-step instructions) can be found on the Nico Club site. This club is composed of owners of Nissan and Infiniti cars. The post related to replacing the starter on 1991-1995 Q45's may be accessed @....... http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=120220
