Located near the Village of Oberzalberg in the mountains on the German and Austrian border called Berchtesgaden, the Eagle's Nest was Adolf Hitler's private retreat and sanctuary. It is a rare German landmark that was left almost untouched by the ravages of WWII. It is called the Kehlsteinhaus or Teahouse in German to mark its intended use as a relaxing location with beautiful views for the German Chancellor and Fueher and was presented to Hitler as a 50th Birthday gift by his secretary, Martin Bormann.

It's name is also used to designate the military command complex at Bad Nauheim. Today, it is a popular tourist attraction and resturant. Various units make the claim to have captured it in WWII, and the US held on to it until 1960 when it was returned to the German government.
