No one really knows where the backbone servers are due to terrost attacks but there are in mostly airports and major, major, city airports, If you want to experement and see if you can find them you can right-click on comand propt and click run as administrator type the command: Tracert (ip address or web URL) like for instance if you want to know where ebay's main server is stored and what servers you go throught to get to the server the command is: tracert www.ebay.com
and usally u can see the abbrivitions of airports and cities like for instance every tracert i perform always goes through Texas.
