That was Shiloh in Western Tennessee. Remember, the Confederate commanding General (killed in the battle) was Sidney Johnston, not the better-known Joseph E. Johnston - no relation - who later commanded the Army of Tennessee.
General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to General U.S. Grant on April 9, 1865. This did not end the U.S. Civil War as other units were still engaged in combat throughout the country. The loss of the Army of Northern Virginia certainly helped bring about the end of the war.

On March 16th, Union forces of Major General William T. Sherman engaged a small group of Confederates at Averysborough, North Carolina. It was an easy Union victory.

No, he did not fight in the West. The Confederate garrison at Vicksburg was commanded by John C. Pemberton, under overall command of Joseph E. Johnston, whose orders were often in conflict with those of the Confederate president Jefferson Davis. On the day Vicksburg surrendered, Lee was engaged in the Battle of Gettysburg.
The number of Confederate soldiers engaged in the 1861 First Battle of Bull Run were 32,000 men. PT Beauregard commanded 22,000 troops and was reinforced with General Johnston's 10,000 troops.
Pursued by Sherman in the Tennessee/Georgia mountains from May '64, Joe Johnston had been conducting a long tactical retreat, so skilful that it is studied in military academies to this day. Logically, he had little choice. He knew the Confederates were running out of recruits by this stage in the war, so his priority was to conserve manpower, deny the enemy any major victories, and prolong the campaign so that the Northern public would become war-weary and vote Lincoln out in the upcoming elections. But unfortunately, logic was not the Confederates' strong point, nor their biggest priority. Tactical retreats were just not the 'Confederate thing to do.' Also Johnston had been engaged in a bitter feud with the Confederate president, Jefferson Davis, since the outbreak of war, when Davis had ranked him only fourth out of five of the regular army Generals who had resigned to join the Confederates, even though he was actually the most senior. Now Davis lost patience and fired Johnston, replacing him with John Bell Hood, someone more dashing and 'Confederate' in style and spirit, but who turned out utterly wrong for the top job, and would lead the Army of Tennessee to disaster.
Levi Johnston used to be engaged to the daughter of Sara Palin, Bristol Palin. He is also the biological father of Bristols daughter. After their engagement eventually fell through, he was cited with many public arguments and spats with the Palin family.
