I am trying to save myself some money and I want to change the serpentine belt on my 1998 ford contour 2 L manual transmission....any ideas out there I would really appreciate any advice.
thay adjust themself
Follow the larger hose from the a/c compressor
When a serpentine belt is loose it means either the belt has stretched and needs replacing, or the idler tensioner is defective and needs replacing, or both.
That depends entirely on the contour of the terrain.
They are spring loaded and self adjusting. If it isn't adjusting itself, it's probably bad.
If the AC compressor is engaging it could be the heater control valve is stuck open. If the AC compressor is NOT engaging you probably have a problem with the controls, a sensor or the compressor.
Follow the larger hose from the a/c compressor Maybe near the drier at the passenger firewall
