This is difficult, if not impossible to answer. It started out as a diversion of the Anglo-Frisian people who settled in Britain. Mostly of Germanic, Scandinavian, and Norman French origin with a heavy sprinkling of words from Greek and Latin, it is now spoken worldwide as the first language of over 300 million people. The original date for it is however, impossible to say.
