Marrow is the soft tissue found in the cavities of bones, responsible for producing blood cells. Yellow marrow stores fat, while red marrow is involved in the production of red and white blood cells and platelets.
Formation of bone marrow, or of the cells that bone marrow makes is the medical definition for myelopoiesis.
Leukemia by definition is cancer of the blood or bone marrow, so you "get" it in your blood or bone marrow.
M1 means less than 5% blasts and is the usual definition of a "remission" marrow. M2 means the marrow has between 5% and 25% leukemic blasts. M3 means there are more than 25% leukemic blasts.
