i changed my spark plug and wire, and now the car is stuttering. what can cause this?
Its possible that this ticking sound is caused from driving fast for prolong periods. Its possible that its not the engine that is making the sound, but the exhaust system somewhere. I hear a ticking sound if I drive over 140KMh for long periods. It always stops once the car cools. I hopes this helps.
Have valves adjusted.
Most likely it's your valves in need of adjustment.
your foot
Check the oil. Failed lifters/rocker arms would not be uncommon.
there could be a couple answers. first have the valves checked they may need to be tighten down if that is not the issue you may have an engine getting ready to blow
Possible lifters that are bad that could explain your ticking noise. It should cost you nothing by stopping by an Auto repair shop and have them listen to your engine.
It is probably the lifters. I suggest using an engine flush and I have had luck with GUNK. Follow the directions on the can. You may have to do it every 30000 miles . I found that if I put a non Mitsubishi oil filter on my pu would start making that ticking sound
Get your oil changed! ASAP! Sounds like you may be getting low on oil; with a slight oil leak... and with a 98 Saturn, that wouldn't be surprising.
Usually it's the lifters in the engine making that noise until they become fully pressurized with oil, then they stop ticking, like on the 3 liter caravans.
My car was making this noise when I started it up. the noise went away after driving for a while. turnd out I just needed more oil.
if is a fast(constant) ticking sound which increases in speed as you accelerate then that sound most likely will be your lifters. they're not getting proper lubrication.perhaps you should either check and make sure your oil is not low and or concider using a thicker oil. 10/40.
