Firstly, it would be a good idea to get a garage to read the engines computer for an error code which will indicate what the problem is. I believe that the light should reset after a number of complete engine cycles (start, warm up, normal running to stop) as long as the problem does not occur again. Not sure exactly how many but I seem to recall around 12? Just out of curiosity - did the light come on after decelerating for a while (i.e. down hill no throttle)?
It appears on Warning. The album in 2000.

It depends where you live, sometimes nothing will happen, you may get a warning or a fine and in some extreme casses you can be put in federal prison.
Nothing. It goes on your permanent record, but nothing happens at all.
Nothing

A triangle with an exclamation point is a warning icon or sign. This symbol is often found on the computer when a program needs the attention of the user. It is also an icon that sometimes appears on the dash of a car if something in the car needs attention.
A warning ticket? Don't worry about it. There is nothing to overturn
nothing at all it the effect of global warning
Nothing Its just a warning
