Turn on headlights/parking lights and adjust dimmer control

It is on the side of the steering wheel and is used for turning your headlights on and off it is also used to control your high beams and low beans
it is below the headlight/dimmer knob, on the back of the dashboard. it is a pain to get to, requiring you to pretty much tear the dashboard out to get behind it
On my 2000 Forester, the dashboard illumination dimmer control is on the turn signal stalk. --Ken
Your headlights may not dim because you don't have dimmer lights. Dimmer lights can blow and leave you with just the high beams.
Probably because the dimmer switch is turned off. Turn the dimmer switch up and see if the dashlights and radio illumination lamps come on.
The headlamp switch controls the power to the dimmer switch and then on to the headlights. The headlamp switch controls the power to the dimmer switch and then on to the headlights.
If the dashboard dimmer switch works with the other dash lights, the fault is in the radio unit itself.
1.check the fuses under the dash 2. check the bulbs. 3. Check the dimmer knob. If it is the bulb it is easy to change. takes a couple of minutes. check the post on how to change the dash lights on a Toyota echo.
