IF the light is on and NOT blinking, it means that the system is HOLDING your transmission from shifting into overdrive. If it is blinking, it could mean that there are more serious issues involved.
The car will shift into Drive and at some point slam back into Second gear.
You can only manually shift the transmission, and then only from First to Second.
It needs to be looked at by a professional. I would not suggest driving this car for very much longer without having it checked. If you must, only drive very short distances. Lol.
