There are several problems with identifying the "holiest" man.

  • The first is that every religion seems to be pulling for its own founder, leader or demi-god.
  • The second is that there are no measurable criteria (Does finding the way to enlightenment trump the founding of Scientology?)
  • Thirdly the winner might not be known even to himself. Like the Jewish Tzadikim (38 humble righteous ones) the most holy person might just labour away doing good without fanfare.

It depends on your cultural references:
  • To Christians it is Jesus.
  • To Jews it may well be any of the 36 tzaddikim/righteous persons in the world who receive the Shekhinah/the Divine Presence
  • To Moslems it would be the Prophet Mohammed
  • To Sikhs any of the gurus who developed their religion.
  • To Buddhists, although he is not "holy" The Buddha holds a special position of respect

Why isn't the holiest day of the year for Christians and Muslims the day that God created man as it is in Judaism ie Rosh Hashanah?

Well I would have to say that the reason that the day man was created isn't considered the holiest day is that if you look at people especially people you don't know or just in general you probably wouldn't think that we are holy by any means...
